Outerwear...
Outerwear is vital in keeping you warm on the slopes. SkiEnthusiast.com recommends the Three Layer System because it is the most versatile and can be used year round for various sports. Abc-of-hiking.com provides an excellent description of the Three Layer System. After you become familiar with the Three Layer System, you should review specific guides on ski jackets and ski pants from Abc-of-skiing.com. Other useful articles are Outdoor Clothing Purposes from Abc-of-skiing.com, Underwear Seriously a review of underwear from Ski Press in the winter 2005 edition on pages 28 - 36, Best Feet Forward a review of socks from Ski Press in the winter 2005 edition on pages 72-76, and Gloves a brief review of ski gloves by Ski Press in the spring 2005 edition on page 64. A tip not provided in the articles above is to wear a base layer (thin moisture wicking fabric glove) beneath your outer gloves. These will provide added warmth and provide a flexible warm barrier if you need to remove your outer glove for any reason. In addition, you always want to carry a moisture wicking fabric face mask for when conditions are windy or really cold. It is easy for your face to get frost nip if you are not careful.
